Abstract

Light from a pair of bulbs 10 is projected by wrap-around reflector 11 to illuminate a narrow line portion of a document positioned above exposure window 12. As shown in side view of Fig. 1A, reflector 11 is substantially elliptical, with lamp 10 being located at one foci. Portion 13 of reflector 11, near the other foci of the ellipse, reflects a sharply focused portion of the line image to window 12. End reflectors 14 cause the individual lamps 10 to project a substantially uniform line image along the length of window 12. An opening 15 in reflector 11 allows projection of the image from window 12 to be passed to an associated optical system.
