Abstract

In fabricating multilayer ceramic substrates, a molybdenum paste is screened into green sheet vias. Platelets, which are formed during the molybdenum paste fabrication process, prevent proper via filling and result in scrapped green sheets. Disclosed herein is a filtration system for removing platelets in molybdenum paste. The filtration system uses a stacked arrangement of wire mesh with graduated openings, and a support brace for the mesh. Referring to Fig. 1, molybdenum paste is pumped from inlet 1, through filtration system 3, and outlet 2. Filtration system 3 comprises a stacked arrangement of cavity plates 4, wire mesh filters 5 and support braces 6. The mesh size of filters 5a, 5b and 5c is 100, 180 and 200 mesh, respectively. Figs. 2, 3, and 4 illustrate a cavity plate 4, wire mesh filter 5 and support brace 6.
