Abstract

In the Information Management System Application Development Facility (IMSADF), the user is restricted to a particular printer for Message Format Service (MFS) for secondary transactions. It is desired to provide the user with a choice of printers rather than simply responding to the PRINTER keyword Y/N (yes or no). Providing the user with the choice of printer is possible because the MFS has specifications for several types of printers. Instead of PRINTER keyword Y/N, the user is able to select values 0, 1, 2 or 3 as follows: 0 = Screen 1 = 3270P, model 1 2 = 3270P, model 2 3 = SCS1 By selecting one of the values 0, 1, 2 and 3, the correct printer specification in the MFS is used.
