Abstract

A new class of partially fluorinated resins which are highly soluble in organic solvents can be easily processed by spin coating onto the desired substrates and can be cured to give rigid/hard coatings with or without curing agents. The potential applications of such fluorinated coatings are extensive. They can be used as a noble subbing layer for ablative optical recording, a nonwettable coating for "drop-on-demand" ink jet nozzles, a solid lubricant which is compatible with the magnetic recording inks, and an encapsulant for electronic packaging (backseal). The preparation of the fluorinated resins is as follows: (Image Omitted)
