Abstract

A plurality of magnetic tape cartridges can be stored in a cylindrical storage unit comprising vertical columns revolving around a common axis. As shown in Fig. 1, a top view of the cylindrical storage unit is shown. A plurality of cartridge slots are shown spaced in a horizontal row around the axis. Each cartridge slot indicates a column that can store a plurality of cartridges, as shown in Fig. 2. The cartridges can be rotated around the axis in either direction to access each column, in turn, to retrieve or replace a particular cartridge. The storage unit may include one or more sliding doors that retract into a wall section of the unit. The doors can be locked for security purposes. As shown in Fig.
