Lamp Aligning Assembly Fixture

In order to properly locate and adjust the light bulbs for a lighted margin scale having an end light pipe, it is necessary to adjust the light bulbs, close the top cover, judge the proper or improper illumination of the light pipes, open the top cover, and turn the machine around for repeated adjustments.

By taking a short section of the margin scale light pipes 10 and mounting them in a shortened section of the mounting bracket 12 used to retain the light pipes 10 in the typewriter middle cover 16, it is possible to make a tool which will aid in the adjustment of the position of the light bulbs for proper illumination. The light pipes are retained within a mounting bracket 12, which may be cut to a shortened length and provided with a spring clip 14.

The spring clip 14 will slide into engagement with the end of the middle cover 16, and the bottom edge 18 of the mounting bracket 12 will locate in the hole provided in the middle cover 16 for the normal mounting of the margin scale assembly. Thus, the light pipes 10 used for inspection purposes will be positioned identically to those of the assembled margin scale. The top cover 20 of the typewriter may be left raised to expose the area within which the light bulbs are mounted.
