Dual Form Factor Electronic Device

Disclosed is a concept for a dual-display electronic device. Benefits include familiar usage in book and PC modes.

Side-by-side displays provide reading areas like open pages in the classic form. Figure 1 illustrates the conventional open-book format.

Via the interface which drives the display, the format shifts to PC mode. The left-hand display (only) rotates 90 degrees while the right hand page becomes a touch-panel keyboard. When set down on the back of the right-hand page, the device assumes the classic laptop form factor. Figure 2 illustrates the conventional laptop format.

The hinge mechanism enables the device to close like a book to protect the screens and power down the device.

The hybrid form factor promotes familiar, comfortable usability in book and PC modes, unlike current offerings.
