Thread Grinding Adapter

Greater versatility of a thread grinder is achieved by the attachment of an adapter to the indexing head that is adjustable in one degree increments.

Referring to the sketch, base support ring 1 is secured by studs 2 about spindle 3 to indexing head 4 of a thread-grinding machine. Ring 5, carrying stop dog 6, is adjustable relative to base ring 1 by means of arcuate slots 7 and thumbscrews 8.

The stop dog 6 is set to the desired position by loosening knurled thumbscrews 8, rotating ring 5 to the desired position by observing scale 9, and retightening the thumbscrews. Auxiliary knobs 10 aid in turning the adapter.
