Four Input Josephson OR Circuit

A four-input OR circuit using a current injection device G1 as an intermediate stage between two interferometers Q1 and Q2 is shown. The power supply voltage is V(s), and the parallel loads are R(L1) and R(L2).

When Q1 is switched by application of a control current I(c), its gate current is switched into G1, switching G1 to the voltage state. Since the largest fraction of the gate current of both Q1 and G1 wi11 flow into Q2, interferometer Q2 will also switch to the voltage state. The gate currents of all three devices will then be directed to the parallel loads R(L1) and R(L2).

Present four-input OR circuits do not use the current injection device G1. Device G1 leads to a circuit having larger output currents and better margins than the four-input OR circuits used today. The only disadvantage is a slightly longer delay than four-input OR gates without the current injection device and somewhat larger area.
