Hot Roll Fuser

A hot roll fuser's silicone elastomeric sleeve includes a small amount of a nonionic, water soluble surfactant which is uniformly dispersed throughout the elastomer.

It has been found that a more resilient roller, for use as the heated roller of a xerographic hot roll fusing station, results when the roller's fusing surface includes from 0.05 to 0.2 wt. percent, based upon the total weight of the rubber sleeve, of a nonionic surfactant of the family polyethoxy alkylphenoxy ethanol. The preferred member of the family is the TRITON X-100* brand. The preferred elastomer is RTV-60** silicone elastomer. This roller also has increased toner release properties. * Trademark of Rohm & Haas Company. ** Trademark of the General Electric Company.
