Abstract

This article describes a method for providing positive feedback to an information processing system operator while the system is internally processing a document text/merge operation. The operator is shown a continuously updated display of the number of pages of the variable fill-in document that have been processed. This function gives the operator positive feedback on how far the merge has progressed and, due to the dynamic nature of the count, provides the operator with the feeling that processing activity is actually occurring.
