Abstract

The present invention provides a method of replacing the p dianiline group in a cured polyimide with a disiloxane, or a disilarylene, or disilalkylene group to improve certain properties of the polyimide. The cured polyimide is reacted with a diamino disiloxane or diamino disilarylene or a disilalkylene in a solvent such as n-methyl pyrrolidone. The reaction is as follows: (see original).

Preparation Of Bis(3-Amino Propyl) Tetramethyl Disiloxane Pyromellitic Dianhydride Polyimide

The present invention provides a method of replacing the

p dianiline group in a cured polyimide with a disiloxane, or a disilarylene, or disilalkylene group to improve certain properties of the polyimide. The cured polyimide is reacted with a diamino disiloxane or diamino disilarylene or a disilalkylene in a solvent such as n-methyl pyrrolidone. The reaction is as follows: (see original).

The preferred solvent, as indicated above, is n-methyl pyrrolidone (NMP).
