Missing Pin Detection Device

This detector 10 senses the absence of pins 12 while indexing across a pin array 16 on a substrate 21 of a thermal conduction module (TCM).

A hole template 14 is placed over the pin array 16. A row of reed contacts 18 is indexed from one row of holes to another over the template. An electrical connection is made by the force of compressed air flowing out of a hole 20 without a pin 12 in it and against the reed contact 18. Air will also flow out of the holes that contain pins but not sufficiently enough to deflect the contact to the required distance. Once the connection is made, the signal will in turn be sent to a processor where a printout of this missing pin location can be obtained.
