Abstract

This detector will detect missing pins in an array of pins. Plate 10 with an array of holes 12 in it is lowered onto the array of pins 14. Tubes 16 connect the holes 12 to respective sensors 18. Air under pressure passes through the sensor and out the holes 12. The sensor can sense the absence or presence of a pin by the back pressure the pin causes as it enters the hole. Controlled sinking of the holes allows slightly bent pins to enter the holes. Short pins may be detected by controlling the degree to which the pins are allowed to enter the hole.
