Abstract

The strain relief 3 is formed of an electrically nonconductive material and includes resilient catches 4 that cooperate with an electrical connector 5 to bend and compressively retain the cable wires 6 from the connector following assembly. This provides a locking action that prevents exposure of the terminals 7 and potential electrical shock hazard should the lock tabs on the terminal become unlatched. Further, the open areas 8 in the strain relief 3 allow test probing of the terminals as required for service.
