Multiple Card Plug

Disclosed are a pack of electronic circuit cards, preferably printed circuits, in a box-type housing and connectors linking these cards with each other and the outside.

It is known from the art for a pack of circuit cards with contact bars on one edge to be plugged in parallel into a connector board. The surface of the connector board is provided with parallel contact bars. The connector board generally comprises printed circuits connecting the circuit cards to each other and the outside. For increasing the number of connectors, individual flat cables are linked by connectors with the circuit cards opposite the connector board.

Also known are packs of circuit cards provided with contact tags on two or three edges, which are inserted into a housing with so-called ZIF (zero insertion force) contacts. In the inserted state, the ZIF contacts are closed by a cam.

The arrangement shown in the exploded view permits circuit cards 1, 2 to be provided with contacts on opposite edges and for these to be connected to sliding contacts in two connector boards 3, 4. This arrangement permits circuit cards to be readily exchanged also by customers. The two connector boards 3, 4 are moved by means of a lever mechanism against the contacts of circuit cards 1, 2, so that all connections are established at the same time.

For moving contact boards 3, 4, they are connected to U-bars 5 in which camshafts 6 are arranged. Camshafts 6 are supported on pins 7 in the housi...
