Background

                            To achieve design and manufacturing efficiency, one base notebook design is created and used as a system-level configuration. Specialized features are applied to meet different market segment requirements.

              Some configurable components include:

•             Hard disk drive, such as a faster one with a larger capacity for a high-performance platform

•             Display, such as a liquid crystal display (LCD) with a higher resolution, improved color depth, and a wider viewing angle for a high-performance platform

•             Optical drives, such as a DVD and/or CD-ROM

              Conventionally, all the configurable components impact the subsystem level and do not impact the industrial design of the notebook.

General description

              The disclosed method is an interchangeable, configurable I/O design that serves as a base design for multiple notebook models. The method could be used to drive the standardization of I/O connector panels/adaptors for notebook computers.
