Acid/ Solvent Bottle Washer

Described here is an automatic, self contained bottle washer for replacement of an open hood and sink.

This article describes a design which is applied to properly clean and remove residual acids and/or solvent based strippers and photoresist from plastic and/or glass containers. These containers must ordinarily be rinsed prior to removal from a using area and before being discarded. This procedure is normally accomplished by hand, in an open hood and sink, one bottle at a time.

In the application to an empty five-gallon disposable container, it is placed in the lower compartment. A pressure vessel containing a cleaning solvent (xylene, etc.) is charged to 30 psi. The bottles containing residual waste material are placed on the spray nozzles. The timer is set to appropriate duration. The "on" switch is engaged to open a solenoid valve, allowing the solvent to spray the inside of the bottles, thereby removing the residual waste.
