Protective Carton

The bendable board carton shown in Fig. 1 has support areas 1 folded toprotect the arms of the ribbon cartridge 3 held in the carton. Fig. 2 shows the blank from which the carton is folded.

Fig. 1 is shown as though the carton material were transparent for added clarity. In Fig. 2, the blank is scored where dashed lines are shown and cut through where solid lines are shown. Strip 5 forms a tear tab. Areas 1 are folded inward (Fig. 1), and the carton is glued together conventionally. The carton is set-up, the cartridge 3 inserted, the areas 1 then pushed inward, and the ends glued. Ends 7 overlap areas 1 to form a dust flap.

Support areas 1 act as cushions to protect the arms of cartridge 3 from damage when the carton is dropped.
