Abstract

This ternary braze alloy consists of 72 plus or minus 3 percent Au, 15 plus or minus 2 percent Ag, and 13 plus or minus 1 percent Ge by weight. The alloy is useful for brazing electronic package components together, in particular for brazing pins to a ceramic substrate. The ternary alloy melts at about 460 plus or minus 20 degrees C and is very resistant to silver migration.
