Compliance Device

There is shown and described a compliance device for use with a multipin cable connector in an automated test environment.

In the figure, a flat spring 2 is provided with formed tabs 4. Spring 2 is attached to test probe 6, such that formed tabs 4 provide an aperture through which connector member 8 protrudes. Mating connector portion 10 is located in wall 12 of the device to be tested.

The device to be tested may, for example. be moving along an automated conveyor. At the test station the device is moved toward test probe 6. Compliance is provided to properly align mating connector member 8 and 10. During the start of engagement, the outermost edges of formed tabs 4 make contact with device wall 12 first, as well as that portion of connector 10 farthest from proper position. Continued movement of the device toward the test probe forces formed tabs 4 inwardly against connector member 8. Connector member S and plate 6 align themselves in the direction of spring tab force.
