Abstract

A plastic strip 10 is interposed between a stationary platen bar 11 and an endless metal type band 12 rotated by drive pulleys (not shown). Strip 10, which is replaceable, prevents wear of the back of the type band 12 due to friction and impact with the surface of platen bar 11. The ends of strip 10 have terminals 14 with apertures 15 for attachment by screws to the back of bar 11. Strip 10 may be made of TEFLON(Trademark of E. I. du Pont de Nemours and Co.), KAPTON(Trademark of E. I. du Pont de Nemours & Co.), TEFLON-coated KAPTON or other suitable low friction, high wear material.
