This article describes a self-aligning bearing for a curved shaft or the like including a torsion bar suspension for applying a tension force to the shaft to remove vibrations therefrom.

Fig. 1 shows the bearing assembly with bearing 10 mounted between torsion bars 11 and 12 in support 13. Fig. 2 shows retainer 14 which carries the bearing assembly between arms 15 and 16 in a snap-in, snap-out design. Fig. 3 shows a top view of the bearing 10 on a curved shaft 17, providing tension to the shaft through the torsion created in bars 11 and 12 by the angle.
