Paper Straightener

This article describes a clamp for holding the leading edge of paper at a registration position while reversing drive rolls to smooth out any buckles in the paper that might be present after it has been advanced to the registration position. This is especially useful for a copy operation where it is necessary to have a flat document.

The figure shows a drive roll for advancing paper in direction A across a document glass 11 to a registration gate 13. A clamp 14 is then lowered by energization of solenoid 15 to hold the paper in place while drive roll 10 is reversed.
