Abstract

A test for measuring the hardness or the extent that dichromated gelatin (DCG) has been cured is based on the pH of the DCG film. The pH of the DCG film, as measured bY a surface electrode, changes regularly with the cure time. Typically, the pH of the DCG film drops dramatically during the first 5 to 15 hours and then levels off to a value that is dependent upon the cure conditions, as shown in the drawing.
