Abstract

A debug program for assisting in the debugging of another program allows the operator to select a plurality of breakpoints (program counter address stops) at which the program being debugged automatically stops execution. When the operator sets or activates a breakpoint, the debug program disassembles the instruction located at the address at which the breakpoint is set or activated. This display of these disassembled instructions provides feedback to the operator for verification that the breakpoints were set at the intended points in the program to be debugged. This avoids time consuming problems that result from misplaced breakpoints.
