Auger System

An auger system for recycling toner in an electrophotographic system includes an auger having flexible flighting and a low pitch-to-diameter ratio.

The auger system, as shown in Fig. 1, includes an auger 10 fitted inside a tube 11. The auger 10, as shown in section in Fig. 2, has flexible flighting 12 which tends to erode any toner sticking to tube 11 without breaking. The auger also has a low pitch-to-diameter ratio to exert a high component of force in the axial direction, which tends to give improved toner movement along the auger.
