Abstract

A non-linear force is applied by a pull-type solenoid 10 (Fig. 1) to a pivoted bail 11 through linkage elements 12 and 13. For maximum restoring energy, linear spring 14 is connected to bail 11 which hermetically provides a non-linear force at solenoid 10 such that the force displacement curves 15 and 16 (Fig. 2) are essentially parallel. This provides a restoring force for reliably positioning the bail 11.
