Abstract

Coating a multi-element print head, for an electrothermal printer that utilizes a transfer ribbon, with ordinary lubricating oil (e.g., SAE 20) prevents ribbon debris from adhering and hardening to the probes. The loose particles may easily be removed by a continuous air stream or other mechanical means. With occasional light applications of oil and gentle mechanical cleaning, the head may be operated indefinitely.
