Input/Output Cable Attachment Assembly

A cable attachment assembly is illustrated in the figure for easily connecting serpent connectors with input/output cable connectors in peripheral devices.

The assembly comprises a base plate 10, fixed rails 12, 14 attached to the base plate and movable rails 16, 18 associated with a cam arm 24 which is adapted, upon rotation in the direction indicated by the arrow, to bring the movable rail towards the fixed rails.

Serpent connectors 26 are installed upon the movable rails, and input/output cable connectors 30 corresponding to the serpent connectors are placed in cable guides 28 along the fixed rails. When the cam handle is moved in the forward direction indicated by the arrow, the serpent connectors are moved into contact with the input/output cable connectors in a positive fashion.

For disassembly, the cam handle is moved to the rear position, and the cables can be easily removed. The assembly illustrated accommodates four cables or one channel capability. If additional channels are required, additional assemblies can be utilized.
