Transistor Protection against Overload

The present circuit provides protection against overload for integrated transistors in a module when operated under certain conditions. The figure shows a module having DATA, ENABLE and INHIBIT inputs similar to those widely used by circuit designers.

A comparator C mounted in "OR DOT" and having a given reference V(REF) is connected to a module comprising an integrated transistor TI.

A user line with a voltage level less than V(REF) applies a voltage V(0) approx. equal 0 volt to the INHIBIT input, thereby blocking integrated transistor TI and stopping current flow through the transistor as long as the voltage level is applied to the user line.
