Magnetic Head Assembly Tool

A tool for assembling magnetic heads employs a magnetic force for application to the head modules.

As illustrated, a magnetic force is induced by means of an electromagnet 1, including a coil structure 2. The force is applied to ferrite modules 3 that are aligned and securely positioned within a nonmagnetic housing 4. The electromagnet provides an alignment surface for the ferrite modules. The use of a magnetic datum allows rapid and accurate assembly of the small magnetic parts without the need for mechanical alignment mechanisms.
