The process includes the steps of applying a photoresist layer to a flat lapped bar 1, and exposing the photoresist to develop a desired pattern (5). The patterned bar is subjected to reactive ion etching in a partial pressure of FREON*12 to remove unwanted ferrite material (6) and some of the photoresist.
