Pin Insertion Tool

The present tool was designed to support and precisely position a pin which is inserted into an epoxy glass substrate. A cross-section of the tool is shown.

While holding the tool in one hand, insert a pin into the tool tip and push until the pin bottoms out. At this point, the pin will protrude slightly from the tool and is used as the guide for inserting the pin in the substrate hole. Placing the pin at the entrance to the hole and applying force to the external housing in the direction of insertion causes the plunger to push the pin out of the tool tip and into the substrate. An adjustment of external housing to plunger controls the pin penetration into the substrate.

The tool supports small diameter pins during insertion into a press-fit hole, and it also controls the insertion depth precisely.
