This article handler operates with a robot to remove hot, textured surface parts from the mold core of an injection mol machine.

Aluminum box-like member 10 can be attached to the arm of a robot in any of a number of positions. Fig. 2 shows the box positioned over a plastic part 11 which is supported on the core (not shown) of a mold which has just opened at the end of a molding cycle. As the robot positions the box on the part, a switch 12 senses that the box is in its proper position relative to part 11. A valve (not shown) now operates to inflate tubing 13 which runs along the inside walls of the box. Inflation of this tubing causes the box to firmly grip the part, without damaging the part's textured surface. The robot may now remove the part from the mold's core and transport the part to a cooling table or the like.
