Abstract

Wedges of sound absorbing material are located at an open end of a plenum with the points of the wedges directed into the plenum toward a blower. Each wedge extends across the opening of the plenum. The wedges are slightly spaced apart at their wide ends and their sloping faces are curved to form venturies for the air from the blower. The venturies give the air a high velocity that is suitable for cooling circuit components such as memory cards.

The wedges are slightly spaced apart at their wide ends and their sloping faces are curved to form venturies for the air from the blower. The venturies give the air a high velocity that is suitable for cooling circuit components such as memory cards.

The wedge is an effective shape for absorbing sound from the blower and the surfaces of the wedges have pores that are of a suitable size to absorb sound. The wedges can be made of a plastic material that contains pores or a film of porous plastic can be formed over a core of non-porous material.

The blower, the plenum, and the circuit cards can be arranged in any suitable configuration that directs the ai parallel paths between the rows of cards.
