Abstract

A carrier or magazine for transporting printed circuit workboards is made with a lightweight aluminum structure and employs polymeric materials on the sides to produce a lightweight, non-abrasive injection moldable piece of equipment. This structure prevents wear and high frictional loading forces in moving the printed circuit workboards. With printed circuit workboards getting larger and with systems being designed which require the lifting of carriers of these workboards to substantial distances, existing magazines, such as those made of steel, would become prohibitively heavy if an attempt were made to adapt them for the wider workboards of the future. This increase in weight would correspondingly reduce the total payload which could be carried in the magazine.
