Abstract

On DisplayWrite 2, the dictionary program name is stored in the system hardware profile. The data set represented by this program name contains the spelling dictionary words that will be used during spell checking. The dictionary program name is displayed in the "Change Spelling Dictionary Name" and "Change Check Document" menus, an example of which is shown in Figs. 1 and 2. The dictionary program dataset always resides in the default program dataset directory. On DisplayWrite 3, operators may specify a supplement dictionary program name. The dataset represented by this program name contains the spelling dictionary words that will be used in extension to those within the dictionary program dataset during spell checking.

2. The dictionary program dataset always resides in the default program dataset directory. On DisplayWrite 3, operators may specify a supplement dictionary program name. The dataset represented by this program name contains the spelling dictionary words that will be used in extension to those within the dictionary program dataset during spell checking. The dictionary and supplemental dictionary program names are displayed in the "Change Spelling Dictionary" and "Change Check Document" menus. The dictionary program dataset resides at the same location for both programs. The supplement dictionary program dataset may reside in either of the following locations: 1) default program dataset directory or 2) DOS current directory. The directory of the supplement program dataset "will" be displayed with the file name when it is explicitly entered in either menu. If a directory path is not entered with a supplement dictionary program file specification, then the DOS current directory is assumed. Since the full dictionary program file specification is not displayed, the operator is not able to readily detect when both program names are equivalent. The system obtains the names of both the dictionary and supplemental dictionary program datasets from the active (resident) hardware profile table when applicable. Since a file specification identifies a unique dataset on the media, then both dictionary and supplement dictionary program names should not be equal. If both dictionary program names are the same, then the system will access the same datasets for both the default and supplement dictionary words table. Hence, the dictionary and supplement dictionary names must be different. The system needs to be able to detect when the dictionary and supplement dictionary program file specif...
