Abstract

In a UNIX* file system each logical Data Management File consists of one or more physical files and a catalog entry. The copy of a single logical Data Management file requires several steps as well as user knowledge as to the file type. A COPY utility is provided for a UNIX file system having logical Data Management files which determines the file type of each input file. If the file is a UNIX file, a simple copy is performed. If the file is a Data Management Services file, all corresponding index files are copied as well as the data file. The file is cataloged at the new directory. * Trademark of the American Telephone & Telegraph Company.
