Abstract

Shown in the figure is an arrangement using a light sensor to detect the leading and left edges of a cut sheet fed to a print station. Sensor 1 is mounted on card guide 2 located on the carrier so that positional adjustment of card guide 2 automatically adjusts sensor 1's focal length with respect to pl 3. After each carrier return sensor 1 detects the left edge of the sheet and that information is used to reset the left margin in order to compensate for any skew in the paper feed path.
