Abstract

The computer system control panel provides sub-function selection capability for each function selection position of the function selector. Function select is generated by two switches. The Select Function switch 10, in the drawing, is a three-position switch with the upper position 11 for incrementing the number shown in the Function Display 15 and the down position 12 decrementing the Function Display 15. The center position 13 is a null position. The Enter Function switch 20 is a pushbutton switch which acts as a load function. Function numbers 00 to 99 may be selected. The control logic will only allow those function numbers to be displayed which are allowed by the Keylock 40. Functions 50-99 have selectable sub-functions. The sub-functions are selected by incrementing or decrementing the Select Function switch 10.

Computer Function and Sub-Function Control Panel

Sub-function numbers are hexadecimal and may be decremented from 00 to FF. The sub- function number will be blinking while the Select Function switch 10 is in the center position to clearly differentiate between functions and sub-functions. While the sub-functions are being incremented or decremented, the function number and sub-function number will be alternately displayed. When the Enter Function switch 20 is depressed a second time, the function is considered complete. An example is the Display SRC (System Reference Code) Work Area. The Select Function switch is operated to increment the numbers s...
