Abstract

In a printer equipped with split tractor paper-feed mechanism and acoustic cover, the cover is provided with a tear bar which serves to hold down the lower tractor doors while tearing off the paper. This facilitates tearing off individual forms, one-by-one without wasting paper, in non-batch "document-on-demand" printing applications. Fig. 1 shows cover/tear bar 1, of the present embodiment, which provides tear edge 2. Fig 2. shows cover/tear bar 1 mounted inside existing acoustic cover 3 with tear edge 2 resting on lower door 4 of tractor 5 which transports paper along path 6. When it is desired to tear off a form, upper tractor door 7 is manually opened and the form is torn off along tear edge 2 which holds lower door 4 closed.

Printer Acoustic Cover/Tear Bar

It is apparent that cover/tear bar 1 lifts away from tractor 5, to permit paper loading, when cover 3 is opened.
