Abstract

To reduce seismic shock to data processing or other equipment, such equipment is provided with spherical casters that are accommodated in respective saucer-like cups. The curved wall of each cup enables the caster to roll up along the wall in the event of a seismic shock, absorbing horizontal energy and permitting the equipment some freedom of movement relative to the slab on which it is supported. If desired, the spherical casters can be integrated into respective levelling jacks.
