Abstract

Hardware, Virtual Telecommunications Access Method (VTAM) and Network Control Program (NCP) information is required concerning resources in a Systems Network Architecture (SNA) network attached through NCPs in order to initialize the INFORMATION/MANAGEMENT database with configuration records. The only method of gathering this information was to manually read the NCP STAGE 1 source deck which was extremely time consuming and error-prone because of the number of NCPs in the network and the associated resources defined to each NCP as well as the format of the NCP STAGE 1 source deck and the translation of information from NCP format to INFORMATION MANAGEMENT format.

ANGGET Analysis Report Program

Hardware, Virtual Telecommunications Access Method (VTAM) and Network Control Program (NCP) information is required concerning resources in a Systems Network Architecture (SNA) network attached through NCPs in order to initialize the INFORMATION/MANAGEMENT database with configuration records. The only method of gathering this information was to manually read the NCP STAGE 1 source deck which was extremely time consuming and error- prone because of the number of NCPs in the network and the associated resources defined to each NCP as well as the format of the NCP STAGE 1 source deck and the translation of information from NCP format to INFORMATION MANAGEMENT format. The ANGGET Analysis Report Program provides a significant improvement to the information gathering process in providing a report on the types of resources within the NCPs and the attributes of those resources in language and terms readily understood by users of the standard INFO/MANAGEMENT CONFIGURATION MANAGEMENT (CONFG MGT) database. The NCP Analyzer report may be used for input to the migration utility provided with the Configuration Management feature of the INFORMATION/MANAGEMENT and INFORMATION/SYSTEM program product. Used in this way, the Configuration Management database may be initialized using the current NCP Stage 1 source decks as source of information. The program includes provisions for furnishing a hardcopy report, readable by persons unfamiliar with the NCP...
