Adjustable Roll Support

This support is adjustable to accommodate roll cores 10 of variable length and internal diameter. Core 10 is adapted to hold webs of magnetic recording media.

Flanges 11 and 12 are adjustable (see arrows 13 and 14) to accommodate different length cores 10. Each flange includes three L-shaped pins 15 which seat in holes 16 formed in cylindrical members 17 and 18. Members 17 and 18 have a numbe these holes, so that the flanges can be positioned at a number of different places along the spin axis 19 of the assembly.

A hand knob 20 causes the three-fingered wedge members 21 and 22 to move together or apart, depending upon the direction of rotation of knob 20. When members 21 and 22 move apart, three slides 23 disposed at 120OE angles expand against the force of four o-rings 24. These slides are thereby forced to the inner diameter of core 10, as shown by dotted lines, and automatic centering is assured.
