Abstract

On one side of this electrical connector, the contact making part has a cylindrical shape that can be formed by shaping a flat rectangular extension from the connector crimping. The other side of the connector is formed in a C shape, and when the connection is made the two tines of the C shaped part snap around the cylindrical part and grip it mechanically and electrically. In this connector, the tines are shaped to exert a force on the cylindrical part to force it back against the bight of the C shape to produce electrical contact at three points. The C shaped part can be provided with additional spring force and/or with raised contact making areas to enhance this effect.

In a variation of this connector, the C shaped part is formed from an initially flat rectangular extension from the crimping structure of the connector that is folded back at the point of one of the tines.
