Abstract

This enhancement allows the viewing of a document directly when referenced in a schedule in the PROFS Program Product. In the PROFS system, a user may view a document referenced in a note and in another document, but not from a user's calendar screen. With the current implementation, the user may prepare and mail an electronic document which contains a meeting notification. The meeting notification includes the date (or dates), starting and ending time, requester, location, subject, and purpose of the meeting. The document may also contain other information, such as a detailed agenda or materials which are required for the meeting.

Look at a Document From the Calendar Function

This enhancement allows the viewing of a document directly when referenced in a schedule in the PROFS Program Product. In the PROFS system, a user may view a document referenced in a note and in another document, but not from a user's calendar screen. With the current implementation, the user may prepare and mail an electronic document which contains a meeting notification. The meeting notification includes the date (or dates), starting and ending time, requester, location, subject, and purpose of the meeting. The document may also contain other information, such as a detailed agenda or materials which are required for the meeting. When a user is viewing such a document, the application recognizes that the document contains a meeting notice and enables a program function key, which when pressed, will extract the necessary information from the document to schedule a meeting on the user's personal calendar. Extended document information, such as the agenda, is not included, as it would clutter the user's personal calendar. Then, by incorporating an existing function from the current application, the user, when viewing his personal schedule, could place the cursor under the document number and press a key to view the entire document that contains the meeting notice.
