Abstract

This enhancement to the PROFS Program Product would signal the user when a conflict occurs when scheduling a meeting. When a user is sent a notice of a meeting, PROFS allows the user to add the meeting notice to his personal calendar by pressing a single program function key. If the times of the meeting overlap with a previously scheduled event, the user will not be informed. With the enhancement, this application would detect the conflict and when such an overlap occurred, display a single screen to the user which would show all the events for the day in question. The user would then have the option of re-scheduling certain events so that the time overlap does not occur, or he may simply file the update, allowing the conflict to exist on his schedule.

Signal Overlapping Meeting Times

This enhancement to the PROFS Program Product would signal the user when a conflict occurs when scheduling a meeting. When a user is sent a notice of a meeting, PROFS allows the user to add the meeting notice to his personal calendar by pressing a single program function key. If the times of the meeting overlap with a previously scheduled event, the user will not be informed. With the enhancement, this application would detect the conflict and when such an overlap occurred, display a single screen to the user which would show all the events for the day in question. The user would then have the option of re- scheduling certain events so that the time overlap does not occur, or he may simply file the update, allowing the conflict to exist on his schedule. Thus, a user would be notified if he inadvertently scheduled two meetings at the same time.
