Abstract

There is currently no means in standard UNIX*-type systems for a user to receive or view a composite summary list of activities. A user must either hot-key around the window ring (which will only allow him to see those activities that have a window) or trace through a process list, in which case he must have knowledge of internal definition. The improved method creates a summary list of activities as each is created to be presented to the user via the system window or another mechanism, such as a command. * Trademark of AT&T Bell Laboratories.
