Abstract

This article describes a hard file test fixture having edge card plug- in connectors and a semi-automatic spring-loaded pogo-pin right-angle power connector. Referring to the drawings, Fig. 1 is a side view and Fig. 2 is a front view of the test fixture disclosed herein. Fig. 3 is a section across A-A of Fig. 1. Hard file 1 is slid into slides 9 mounted to fixture sides 8. Edge card contacts of the card assembly mounted inside the hard file are inserted into connectors 2 and 3 (Fig. 3). A mounting plate 10 has slots in it for any horizontal alignment adjustments. When the hard file is properly engaged into the connectors, lever 13 and its connecting bar 6, which is attached to pivot assembly 4, are pushed down to make pogo-pin contact 5 (shown in detail A in Fig.

Hard file 1 is slid into slides 9 mounted to fixture sides 8. Edge card contacts of the card assembly mounted inside the hard file are inserted into connectors 2 and 3 (Fig. 3). A mounting plate 10 has slots in it for any horizontal alignment adjustments. When the hard file is properly engaged into the connectors, lever 13 and its connecting bar 6, which is attached to pivot assembly 4, are pushed down to make pogo-pin contact 5 (shown in detail A in Fig. 4) with power connector 14 mounted to a printed circuit board on the hard file. There are slots in pivot assembly 4, shown in detail in Fig. 4, for any adjustments that are necessary for perfect alignment to the power connector. When the test is completed, the lever 13 is raised and the hard file is pulled out and placed on a pass or reject skid for disposition. Sides 8 have openings in them at the slide 9 locations for ease of assembly and adjustments.
